Urovasti – a vital Ayurvedic treatment for correcting the vata dosha

Ayurveda is the ancient traditional medicine system from India. Developed through the efforts of sages and practitioners, its body of knowledge relies on the usage of vital herbs and jadibutis found in nature. Ayurveda has been developed as a robust science with very fundamental principles that are meant for precise diagnoses and resurrection of various ailments.

Ayurveda considers three main doshas in every human body and these are the pitta dosha, vatadosha and the kaphadosha. It is said that a healthy body has a perfect balance between these three; but ideally, this is seldom true and because of the faulty lifestyles and fooding habits, deviations do develop in these doshas which result in the development of the diseased condition in the body. Ayurveda developed dedicated therapies including the herbal massages to correct the doshas imbalances. Urovasti is one such treatment that is oriented towards correcting the vata imbalance and hence secures relief in associated ailments, claims an expert at the Ayurvedic massage center in Pune. Urovasti is therefore considered a useful treatment because it can cure various diseases like those related to the heart.

The Urovasti procedure –

The Uro in Sanskrit means chest while vasti or vasthi means retaining. Thus urovasti corresponds to a process wherein a herbal medicated oil is held over the chest for some time. The herbs are chosen carefully by the Ayurvedic practitioner after taking into account the nature and extent of vata dosha present in the person. These herbs are then boiled in vegetable oil to make the herbal concoction. The person lies down on the back while a dam is created on the chest through the wheat or black gram flour dough that is glued to the skin by applying water. The herbal concoction is then poured into it while still warm. This medicated oil has herbs’ extract that reaches deep in the tissue and corrects the vatavikaar or imbalance. As the oil cools, it is drained and more warm oil is poured in. This process may be continued for no less than 30 minutes.

The benefits from urovasti –

Urovasti is administered over the chest region that is the place of lungs and heart – the organs that govern the vata component in the body. The fundamental benefits derived from urovasti, therefore, relate to the strengthening of these organs and hence correcting the vata dosha present in the body, says the expert offering herbal massage in Pune.

Objectively, the benefits of urovasti are many and are derived as the secondary implications of the vata dosha correction. According to a urovasti expert offering the dedicated therapies at a herbal massage center in Pune, the main benefits for which urovasti is offered include the following –
• Improving the blood circulatory system
• Strengthens the neuro muscular system of body and also the connective tissues
• Strengthens and revitalizes the heart
• Regulates the heart functions and rhythms; corrects cardiomyopathy
• Respiratory problems like asthma and bronchitis are relieved
• Milder angina, chest pain symptoms are relieved
• Ischemic heart disease chances are reduced significantly

These benefits are vital to ensure the good health of the overall body because strengthened heart, lungs and neuro muscular functions keep the person buoyant and healthy always. Conversely, the person suffering from any of these conditions feels good after urovasti, claims the expert at a leading Ayurvedic massage center in Pune.
